City of Edina
The City of Edina, a first ring suburb immediately southwest of Minneapolis, has a population of 47,425 residents. The city, encompassing 15.7 square miles, is almost completely built out with residential areas comprising the largest portion of the City. It has 39 parks, lakes, neighborhood and regional shopping areas, high-quality medical facilities, family-owned businesses, major corporations, and churches.
The City of Edina is using funds from the BCBSMN Active Community Planning grant to develop a comprehensive bike plan that will be developed by the Bikeway Taskforce with the assistance of a consultant. The comprehensive bike plan will be integrated into Edina 's 2008 comprehensive plan update.
