Victoria
Victoria is a high-growth community in the southwestern Twin Cities Metro along Highway 5. It currently has 6,000 residents, and is expected to grow to a population of approximately 30,000 by 2030. It is primarily a low density residential community rich in natural resources with approximately 250 acres of existing parkland spread throughout 27 parks.
The City of Victoria is using funds from the BCBSMN Active Community Planning grant to incorporate active living principles into their 2008 comprehensive plan.
Project Update:
The City of Victoria is working with TKDA to build health issues into their land use, transportation, and parks and trails portions of their comprehensive plan. They have also been working closely with another BCBS partner, Carver County , to take a regional and unified approach towards active living in their community.
