General Health Issues
Design for Health focuses on how planners and other related occupations can play a role in changing the built environment in ways that may influence human health. DFH covers the following health topics:
- Integrating health into comprehensive planning
- Accessibility
- Air quality
- Environment and housing quality
- Food
- Healthcare Access
- Mental health
- Physical activity
- Safety
- Social capital
- Water quality
Each topic includes DFH resources; such as, planning information sheets that provide examples of policy and plan implementation through commonly used planning strategies, image slide shows, digestible research summaries as well as a variety of other tools.
